The Village is governed by the Hot Springs Village Owners' Property Association Board of Directors and is a planned private community. The Board consists of a General Manager and seven members who are elected on 3-year staggered terms and serve voluntarily. The standing committees of the association are: Architectural Control, Audit, Recreation, Golf, Awards, Social and Cultural, Trails, Construction/Maintenance, Finance, and Health & Medical Services.
The Property Owners Association (POA) employs over 500 people from the Village and surrounding areas in all services from administrative to golf pro shop, and animal control to groundskeepers. Providing all amenities, the POA services include fire and police protection and a public works department that maintains 470 miles of roads, water, sewer and sanitation, as well as curbside trash and recycling pick up. An eighth lake, Lake Lago, provides the water supply.
The POA services provide more than the necessities of life with an ever-increasing list of amenities such as recreational centers, a library, animal shelter, eight golf courses, 16 tennis courts, 7 recreational lakes with 2 marinas, 2 large pavilions, nature trails, natatorium and fitness center, children's games area, etc. See "Playing" on this site for more information.
